Double Bit Lock Decoder - ProEdition Series

Proedition series Decoder for Double Bit Locks

This is Prodecoder Professional Locksmith Tool for Double Bit Locks. We named this product series ProEdition – it can operate (open and decode) more than 35 different models of Double Bit Locks and we keep developing new models constantly.

With these tools you can open no matter how the lock is oriented – you just need to make sure on which side (frontplane or backplane) the active pins are (if applicable)

What is a Double Bit Lock?

dierre-atra“The Double Bit locks are built and operate much differently than the conventional and more popular pin locks. Their biggest disadvantage is that they do not allow for as many master-key combinations as pin tumbler locks.

In a basic, fixed, lever lock design, the entire lock is enclosed in a case – The simple lever lock has three or more lever wafers or plates that pivot on a post and are pushed into the ‘locking’ position by springs, which are bound against the case and attached to the tail end of each lever plate. When the original key is inserted into the lock and turned, it raises each plate (wafer) to the point where the fence of the lock’s bolt can clear the obstruction or face of each wafer, which also blocks each tumbler’s gate. When all the levers are in this position, the fence can be thrown through each tumbler’s gate, which pushes the bolt into the retracted position.

ProEdition Sticks - Different Models

With ProEdition Series you can lift each lever (plate) to a specific height in order for the locking bolt to move. These tools have many advantages, first of which is how easy it is to work with them. With a short video manual (which can be found on our website the user can easily learn how to assemble and disassemble the tool, how to prepare the tool for operation, how to position it inside the lock and how to perform the opening procedure.

As you can see on the picture, the sticks look very much alike, so the procedure for all the series is quite the same. Depending on which lock you are working on, the stick differs – in terms of pins count (6, 7, 8, 10, 12 etc) and pins size. When inserted inside the lock and when the pumping procedure starts (you can watch the VIDEOS here) the pins start to move, lifting each wafer to the appropriate positions until all of them take their correct position. And this is how you make each turn of the lock (usually 2 or 4 turns)

The most important thing is the preparation of the stick- on most models there are two bolts – one  positioned on the top and another the bottom of the stick. There are two hex keys provided in the box – one for the top bolt of the stick and one for the bottom bolt. The first step of the preparation is to ensure the smooth traction of the pins. If you tighten the bolts too much, the pins will move very hard which may cause very slow or even impossible opening. If you leave them too loose, the pins will move too easy and with couple of pumps during the opening procedure,  their movement will be gone – so this will make the opening impossible. The pins must have the correct traction – not too tight nor too loose!

Inside the box you will find:

  • stick -choose from our range of products
  • universal handle – suitable for every stick model
  • small tension handle
  • external manipulator of the pins (for the traction)
  • two hex keys
  • graphite – for the tractions of the pins
  • small box with spare pins
