ProEdition Decoder for lock model "IDM"
Proedition decoder is a locksmith tool that can open and decode Double bit Lever locks. The tools from this series work only on locks with NO anti-pick cuts! And this particular pick tool is made for the lock model “IDM” or for locks with similar dimensions.
When you insert the Proedition IDM Doppia Mappa Decoder inside the lock, it allows the shape of the original key to be reconstructed. After that, the pins take the original “shape” of the key and the lock can be opened.
This manual self impressioning lock picking tool works fast and with no damage on the lock. With the ProEdition Decoder you can read the code of the IDM lock after the opening! As a result, after you open the lock, you can make a duplicate key.
How does it work?
The first step is to assemble the tool. The video in this page will help you do that. After that you must manipulate the traction of the pins. This is the most important step. Because if the pins are too loose, they will easily fall down. But if they are too tight, it will take a long time for the lock to be turned. Hence, they must be perfect – medium. And this takes practice.
After you insert the tool, it will lift each lever (bit) of the Double Bit Lock “IDM” (or any lock with similar dimensions) to a specific height in order to align the gates (slots) in the levers with the bolt. This alignment will allow the bolt to move. Thus to unlock the mechanism.
Moreover, the doppia mappa decoder is easy to assemble and disassemble. Another key point is how easy you can repair any broken or twisted pin – just unscrew the back bolt for pin adjustments of the IDM Stick and change the damaged pin.

Understanding Double Bit Locks: Enhanced Security for Modern Needs
In an era where security is paramount, the evolution of locking mechanisms has become essential to safeguarding property and ensuring peace of mind. Among the many innovations in this field, double bit locks stand out as a reliable and robust solution for enhanced security. These locks, often used in high-security applications, offer a unique design that makes them significantly more resistant to picking, drilling, and other forms of forced entry compared to traditional single-bit locks.
Double bit lever locks are a type of mechanical lock that uses two “bits” or levers to secure the mechanism. These locks are commonly found in older security systems, safes, and some types of padlocks. Here’s a brief overview of how they work and their characteristics:
How Double Bit Lever Locks Work?
1. Lever Mechanism: The lock contains of several levers (3×3: 4×4: 5×5: 6×6 etc) that must be lifted to a specific height by the key in order to align the gates (slots) in the levers with the bolt. This alignment allows the bolt to move and unlock the mechanism.
2. Key Design: The key for a double bit lever lock typically has several bittings or cuts (3×3: 4×4: 5×5: 6×6 etc) that correspond to the number levers. Each bitting is designed to lift its respective lever to the correct height.
3. Security: The security of the lock depends on the number of levers and the precision of the key cuts. More levers generally mean higher security, as it becomes harder to pick or manipulate the lock.
Characteristics:
– Durability: Lever locks are known for their robustness and longevity, making them suitable for high-security applications like safes and vaults.
– Key Complexity: The keys for double bit lever locks are often large and intricately cut, which adds to the lock’s security.
– Resistance to Picking: Lever locks are generally more resistant to picking than pin tumbler locks because of the need to align multiple levers simultaneously.
Applications:
– Safes and Vaults: Double bit lever locks are commonly used in safes and vaults due to their high security and reliability.
– Antique Locks: Many antique locks, especially those from the 19th and early 20th centuries, use lever mechanisms.
